Hugo in the PrisonsHugo In the Prisons Hugo in the Prisons was established in collaboration with the Monroe State Reformatory in 1998 with the belief that our community extends beyond our walls. The group meets 10 months out of the year and is composed of 15-20 writers from the Concerned Lifers Book Club. Each month a different writer visits the prison to meet with the group to discuss his or her book. Some inmates in the Concerned Lifers group are themselves writers and some have had their own work published. The group has produced two anthologies by prison inmates at www.ravenchronicles.org of prisoner writing, one in 2003 and another in 2006. Questions? E-mail our Alix Wilber, program director.
